Key Points:
Democracy: Only 11.4% of respondents are fully satisfied with the state of democracy in Romania, and 3 out of 10 Romanians say they are "rather satisfied". Over 58% of respondents say that democracy in Romania and the way it functions should be improved.
European Elections: More than a third of those surveyed say they choose to participate in the elections for the European Parliament because it is their right/duty. The list of reasons for participating in the European elections also includes the desire for change or the desire for a better future. However, only 3.6% of Romanians vote in the European elections because they express their belonging to the idea of being European in this way.
Trust in Institutions: The Army is traditionally at the top of Romanians' trust. "I have complete trust" and "I rather tend to trust" accumulate over 75% of the answers. Less than 10% of those surveyed say they have a complete lack of trust in the Army. The press, the government and the parliament are, in the order described, the institutions in which people say they have or tend to have trust, while the popularity of the institution of the President is declining.
Relationship with the US, Russia and China: 72.7% of respondents consider Russia to be a threat to Romania's security and 24% perceive China as a threat. The United States is seen as a threatening country by 14.2% of Romanian respondents. At the same time, 51% of respondents do not consider far-right nationalist groups to be a threat to their own values and identity.
NATO Membership: Romania's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance makes it less likely that the country will be attacked by a foreign nation, 44.7% of respondents believe. 30.7% believe that Russia is trying to weaken the EU and NATO, and 41.7% believe that by providing military equipment and weapons Romania is helping Ukraine to defend itself against Russia. 4 out of 10 Romanians say they fully support the idea of creating a European Union army to reduce dependence on the US.
Romanians and the Impact of Artificial Intelligence: Over 57% of those surveyed feel optimistic and "rather optimistic" when asked about the potential impact of artificial intelligence on their lives and the next generation. 14.6% of respondents say they are very pessimistic when they think about the impact of artificial intelligence in the future.
