At the other end of the spectrum, the highest number of cars per 1,000 inhabitants is in Italy: Valle d'Aosta has an average of 2,339 vehicles/1000 inhabitants, Trentino Province with 1431/1000 and Bolzano with 935/1000.
Of the 10 most motorized regions in Europe, 6 were in Italy and one each in Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.

In terms of electric cars, the best-performing regions in 2022 were in the Netherlands and Sweden, with average shares of between 6.6% and 12.8% of total registered cars.
Of the top 10 regions, four are in the Netherlands, four in Sweden, and one each in Luxembourg and Austria.
In contrast, seven regions in Greece and one each in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Spain have zero percent electric cars in the total number of registered cars.
In Romania, the Bucharest-Ilfov area had a 0.79% share of electric cars two years ago, while the rest of the regions ranged from 0.14% to 0.3%.
